I’m not sure if you are the resolution type or not, but I am! I think there is always room for improvement in any area of life, especially fashion. I like to think of resolutions as more of a goal rather than a drastic lifestyle change. So, here are my 2020 Resolutions for my personal style.
- Try different shoes.
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I kind of wear the same shoes nearly every other outfit. Black and nude heels are my go-to shoe preferences when styling a work outfit. There is nothing wrong with black or nude pumps. In fact, I think every woman should own these staple pieces.
However, I’m really doing myself a disservice by not venturing out! There are thousands of shoe options out there, and I need to try more. I have always been hesitant with shoes. What if they aren’t comfortable? What if they don’t look right with an outfit? What if they aren’t practical? I need to stop though. Shoes are something every fashionista should truly enjoy, so I am hoping to expand my horizons in the coming year.
2. Try a different clothing brand every month.
Just like shoes, I stick with what I feel comfortable in. This lifestyle choice of mine reflects through my blog, and I am sure you have noticed. I find some really great pieces, but you are probably seeing a lot of the same brands mentioned over and over again on Professionally Posh. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with knowing what brands you like. However, there is a whole world of fashion brands out there! I especially would like to look into lesser-known brands and smaller companies. Who knows? Maybe I will even find my new favorite brand? So, I will be trying 12 different brands throughout the new year; 1 different brand every month.
3. Try a different nail polish color every month.
I’m a creator of comfort and habit. I stick to probably three nail polish colors for the entire year, and that is really silly. This coming year, I would like to try a different nail polish color every month, so I can find more variety. I can still wear my three staple colors, but I think trying a new color every month will be a fun little way to venture out every so often.
4. Layer more often.
Layering makes all the difference. I can honestly say layering is what changed my wardrobe from that of a college student to that of a young professional. It just helps you look more put together. Layering definitely adds more complexity to assembling an outfit, but it can also make an outfit so much better. I am excited to share more layering options with everyone following Professionally Posh during the year.
5. Add more colors and patterns.
I like to stick with the basics if you haven’t noticed. Any clothing garment in a solid, neutral color is a win on my end. This can get super boring after a while. I plan on mixing things up every so often during 2020. Think more colors, fun patterns, and bolder fashion statements.
6. Add more jewelry to my everyday style.
Jewelry is probably the area I need the most help with. I wear the same jewelry every day: engagement ring and wedding band on my left hand, diamond band on my left hand, and diamond stud earrings. I love the classics, but I would really like to start forming a jewelry collection with more fashion-forward pieces. I think jewelry can really add a lot to an outfit, so I am looking forward to playing around with it a little more in the coming year.
So, those are my 6 Style Resolutions for 2020. I am going to actively try to keep these in the back of my head, so I can try to improve my style. I will keep updates on my blog on how things are going. I would like to hear from you! What are your 2020 Style Resolutions?
