We visited Panama last summer over a quick three-day vacation. We took a direct flight out of Houston, and we were there in under a few hours. Panama was an absolute blast, and we are really looking forward to going back. While there, we spent a day on the beach and the other two days in Panama City. Here are some essentials I would recommend packing for a trip to Panama.
- A fun hat.
The sun in Panama is intense. One way to avoid sunburning is a great hat. Plus, a hat is one of those accessories that can instantly make an outfit more chic. The hat I packed is no longer sold in stores, but this is super cute. I also packed my Mrs. hat for the beach. It seemed fitting since we visited Panama on our “minimoon.” Purchasing a Panama hat would make for a great souvenir. There are several stores throughout Panama City that sell these classic hats if you are interested in purchasing one in Panama.
2. A swimsuit.
You might not know, but Panama has some highly underrated beaches. A beach vacation calls for a cute swimsuit for us fashion lovers out there. I packed this classy swimsuit for our trip. It is so versatile, and it has tummy control! That is a win-win in my book. If you are looking for more affordable swimsuits, Cupshe has a large selection of cute swimsuits.
3. A colorful skirt.
Skirts are a wardrobe must-have. Panama is warm year-round, especially during the summer months. Skirts are a great way to stay cool while still looking well-dressed. For a day exploring Panama City, I would recommend wearing a colorful skirt. The architecture in Panama City’s old city is very bright and colorful, so a fun skirt fits right in. I packed a skirt similar to this; it looked great paired with a simple tee shirt and sandals. For more sizing options, you could also try something like this mustard yellow skirt.
4. Comfortable shoes.
If you will be exploring Panama City at all (which I highly recommend), you will want some comfortable walking shoes. Old town Panama is primarily cobblestone, so I recommend leaving the heels at home. Instead, pack a comfortable flat or sandal. I packed something nearly identical to these; the neutral color went with every outfit I wore. You could also try something from Rothys if you prefer to pack something other than sandals.
5. Breathable tee shirts.
I’ve never experienced humidity as I did in Panama this past summer. The last thing I would recommend packing nonbreathable tee shirts. Packing tee shirts made from natural fabrics such as cotton or linen is a good move. I get most of my tee shirts from here and here (I stock up during big sales every year).
6. Stylish Sunglasses.
Sunglasses are a must in Panama. I mean, sunglasses are always a must, but they are especially essential in Panama. They can make an outfit much more refined while protecting your eyes from the sun. I packed a style similar to these from Balmain and these from Karl Langerfeld. I recommend finding a good pair or two (or three) of sunglasses that fit your face well. You will need them.
So, those are my six packing essentials for Panama. I hope they are able to help you prepare for a trip of a lifetime. Once you visit Panama, I guarantee you will want to visit again.
