One of my resolutions for 2020 was to incorporate more color into my wardrobe. Like most people, I wear colors I am comfortable with. I love black, brown, beige, olive, navy, and grey. See a pattern? Bold colors are not necessarily common in my personal style. However, it’s time for a change. I thought a holiday like Valentine’s Day would be a great way to start styling one of the boldest colors out there: red.
I found this gem of a dress on sale at Gap, and I immediately jumped online to purchase it. The price is almost as spectacular as this dress. The fabric is so soft. It is probably one of the most comfortable fabrics out there. I also love the cut of the dress; this cut looks great on many body types. The length of the dress makes it office appropriate. If you are not super comfortable with the v-neck or you work in a more conservative office, I would recommend wearing a camisole underneath.
The color of the dress is obviously very loud, so I opted for a simple black cardigan over it to slightly mute the outfit. To give the dress more shape, I added a leopard-print belt (which also happens to be a great find). Finally, I tied the black from the cardigan and belt together with black pumps. Super simple, but I feel they made the outfit come together wonderfully.
Overall, this outfit is under $75, work-appropriate, and chic! Valentine’s Day happens to land on a workday this year, so many professionals are likely scrambling to find something to wear. If you are still undecided, give this look a try! I promise your closet (and wallet) will thank you.
