Happy Monday! I hope everyone has a great week. It is that awkward time of the year for us fashion lovers. Think: the time of year between winter and spring where you don’t know if you should be wearing pastels or dark colors. You are unsure what the weather will look like from the time you leave the house in the morning until you get home later that evening. Do I wear a dress with tights or stick to bare legs? Should I wear a winter coat, or will it get too warm?
I like to stick to some basics during this odd transition. For starters, can you ever go wrong with black? While it might be more of a winter color, that is not to say you cannot wear it during warmer months too. It is always in style, so I have found it can be great for transitioning before you begin wearing lighter colors. To keep things simple, I like to pair black clothing with grey. The combination creates an effortless look that still makes you look chic and professional.
In terms of temperature regulation, things can get tricky. I prefer to layer. On my way out the door, I tend to get cold during the morning. However, my temperature is fine when I’m in the office and later during the day; a lighter coat is a clear solution. You can take it off upon arriving at the office, but you have something in case you need it.
I selected some cute plaid pants, and I paired then with one of my favorite tops for work. This sweater is great. It is lighter than a traditional sweater, yet it provides more warmth than a classic cotton shirt. I paired a lighter coat with the outfit, and I finished the look with classic black pumps. During this transition period, opt for classic colors and layers! It will help make getting dressed a bit easier for the next few weeks.
