Greece is one of my favorite (if not my favorite) destination I’ve visited. Beautiful beaches, delicious food, and friendly locals are just a few of the many things a trip to the Aegean can offer. When planning for an upcoming trip to Greece, I would recommend packing these 6 essentials during the warmer months.
- A floral sundress.
I’m not sure of a more iconic duo than a great sundress and an even better vacation. Given the location of Greece, it is fair to assume the summers are very warm. A light sundress made of natural materials such as linen or cotton will help with temperature regulation while also providing a chic outfit. I personally enjoy this look. I love blue dresses for this destination as they make for excellent pictures with the blue and white architecture in the background.
2. A simple sunhat.
The sun is bright in Greece, no doubt. To protect yourself from harmful UV rays, pack a simple sunhat. If you are opting for outfits of bolder colors and/or patterns, a simple sunhat with little frills will help keep your outfit from being overpowering.
3. A small handbag.
The capital city of Athens along with several of the picturesque islands including Santorini involve a lot of steps and walking uphill. While the added exercise is a nice benefit, having to lug around a large handbag while climbing those steps is not. Consider a smaller purse that is lightweight and holds just your essentials. While “essentials” can vary person to person, I opted for my wallet-on-chain and it was the perfect size. Bonus? The chain can be tucked into the bag for a more formal look during evenings. It can also function as a wallet, which is nice to throw into a beach bag. This option from Quince is an excellent budget-friendly alternative.
4. Day-to-night dress.
When packing for trips, I prefer to pack light and select pieces that can be worn for multiple occasions. While Greece can be relatively casual during the day, they do not shy away from dressing up for dinner and an evening out. Consider packing a dress that can be worn with some cute sandals during the day and later dressed up for dinner in the evening with some heels and a shawl or light sweater. This option does an excellent job at achieving a look that can easily transition from day to night.
5. Aegean themed swimsuit.
A trip to Greece is not complete without a trip to the beach at least once, which means you will need to pack a swimsuit or two. To get into the Aegean spirit, this elegant swimsuit is a great option. I also enjoy Jetset Christina’s line for couples and families who are looking to match.
6. A cute jumpsuit.
One popular activity on the islands is renting an ATV to get around the island. As fun as this mode of transportation is, it tends to limit your options in terms of wearing a dress. As an alternative, consider packing a nice jumpsuit. You will have the ease and convenience of a dress while having a more practical option if you decide to rent an ATV for a day or two.
I hope the above lists provides some ideas and a starting point for a trip of a lifetime!
